SUSTAINABILITY: OUR ADVICE

• At Villa Calicanto we are committed to living in a truly sustainable and beautiful way. Sustainability at Villa Calicanto means a kinder way of life which makes your holiday exceptionally comfortable as well as light on the island that welcomes you, Sardinia. We do our best to continually improve our practices and encourage our guests to do the same.
  
  - Regularly recycle garbage and if possible buy goods with minimum and/or recyclable packaging.
  
  - Reduce car traffic: enjoy the local coast and its amenities, walk whenever possible (sun and distances permitting!) and drive preferably off peak time.
  
  - Live Local: explore Southern Sardinia's possibilities - we will be happy to give you our advice!
  
  - Enjoy Sustainability: turn off any electric units when you are not home; use the advantages of the passive house - for instance, close the curtains to keep the temperature inside, and open them to let the natural warmth and light in; try reducing the use of heating and air conditioning, as the quality of walls and insulation will naturally form an efficient barrier which cools down or warms up all interiors quickly and releases very slowly; turn off some lights and the TV and make yourself cozy with a book - or sit in the balcony or in the veranda, just looking at the stars (from which Torre delle Stelle takes its name!); use the washing machine and the dishwasher when fully loaded, and prefer the ecological settings and programs on both devices; enjoy showers and use fresh water sensibly and responsibly; use appropriately the double flush button; opt for ecological mono-doses of detergents whenever possible.
  
  A more sustainable life means to respect and protect the environment while enjoying your holiday: to protect plants and animals; to recycle litter appropriately; to leave the property as you find it;to consider other people, guests and places when visiting the coast and the community we are part of, as Villa Calicanto.

  EXPENSES: As green holiday renters in a water-stressed and energetically poor region like Sardinia, we address the scarcity of water and energy responsibly. Part of our mission is to encourage our gues to be sustainable by recycling garbage correctly and by avoiding any waste effectively. The water/electricity consumptions included in the rent have been therefore calculated according to the average consumptions of our guests and to recent studies on sustainable tourism, to reach a fine and comfortable balance for our guests and our nature. Good sustainable practices are therefore easy to implement and enhance the quality of living at Villa Calicanto. Our villas are highly energy efficient and have an effective water system, which - together with the information provided - facilitate our guests' good sustainable practices immensely. For these reasons expenses are calculated as follows:
  
  ELECTRICITY: Electricity consumption up to 70 Kw per week is already included in the rent. After this amount, guests will pay according to their consumption at the cost of 0,50 Euro per Kw.
  
  WATER: Water consumption is already included in the rent up to 1 cube meter per week. After this amount guests will pay according to their consumption, at the cost of 5 euro per cube meter (or fraction).
  
  GAS: Gas consumption up to 1 cube meter per week is already included in the rent. After this amount guests will pay according to their consumption, at the cost of 10 euro per each cube meter (or fraction).
  
  The Villas and the property inclusive of the garden and the pool are rented professionally cleaned and kept up to the highest standards of hygiene and beauty. All daily cleanings and tidy-ups from the moment of the arrival until the departure; regular and correct waste recycling throughout the holiday; good maintenance and ordinary care of the house, of the property and of every item provided for the whole lenght of the stay are of entire responsibility of the guests who are renting. During the stay, extra cleanings of the house with the change of bedsheets and towels can be scheduled upon request at the cost of € 80,00 each.
  
  DAMAGE DEPOSIT (refundable upon satisfactory check of the Villa) € 300,00. This sum will be entirely returned to the guests provided the following provisions are met:
  
  - No damage is done to property or its contents.
  
  - The property and the furnishings, kitchen equipment, crockery, glasses, barbecue, stoves, bedding and towels and all textiles are kept and left clean and in good condition at the departure: nothing is lost, unclean or damaged.
  
  - No damage is done to the walls, doors, stairs, Windows and structures of the Property (including the garden, the trees and the pool)
  
  - Nothing is done that may be reasonably considered to cause a nuisance or annoyance to the owners, to the other guests in the residence, and/or to any other occupier of adjoining or neighboring properties.
  
  - No illegal activity, pets or collection of rents or services is done during the stay.
  
  -No extra people are staying in the Property than the ones expressly authorised and confirmed by the owners and other residents.
  
  - No significant change happens in the makeup of the group of guests during the stay in the Property.
  
  - All debris, rubbish and discards are placed and regularly recycled for collection during the stay in the dedicated rubbish bins and bags outdoors and separated according to their categories following the given explanations upon arrival.
  
  - All dishes and kitchen tools used are placed in the dishwasher and cleaned: the dishwasher and its filters are kept clean.
  
  - All keys are left on the kitchen table and unit is left locked.
  
  - All charges accrued during the stay are paid prior to arrival.
  
  - No belated arrival and/or departure happen and the agreed check-in and check-out times are respected. If the guests realize that their arrival is belated, notice of such delay is immediately communicated to the owner, or it will be charged with € 50,00 while the check-in may be not guaranteed.
  
  - Nothing other than reasonable amounts of ecological/biodegradable toilet paper is flushed. The water recycling system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. Dedicated paper and plastic bags are provided for such items.
  
  If such provisions are not met, the damage(s) will be estimated and the cautionary deposit will not be returned in part or fully.
  
  We recommend our guests to take travel insurance for the trip to ensure that each member of the group is covered by comprehensive travel insurance (including cancellation, flight delays, loss and damage to baggage and other property) and health insurance (including evacuation and repatriation coverage).
  
  Our guests take all necessary steps to safeguard their personal property and safety. No liability to our guests is accepted in respect of damage to or loss of such property and of your own person (as well as minors).

   

  The Villa is not suitable for animals at the moment, and the property is strictly no smoking. The residence is not fully accessible to guests with mobility disabilities.

   

  CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Up to 60 days before the check-in, the 30% of the total amount will be charged. Between 60 and 31 days before the 50% of the total amount will be charged. Between 30 days to the arrival date, or in case of no-show or early departure, the total amount will be charged in full.
  • FOR CANCELLATIONS occurring because of the current COVID 19 pandemic, if we are notified less than 30 days before the scheduled arrival, the 50% of the total amount (that is the sum our guests would have already paid) will be saved and considered a downpayment for a future holiday. No refunds are unfortunately possible. The reservation will be postponed, according to the availability of dates and villas, to another period within the same year or during the following year. The remaining due payment will be calculated and paid upon arrival.

  PAYMENT

  • The 50% of the total amount will be charged with the booking process as confirming deposit, to be paid via wire transfer. The remaing 50% of the total amount is due by 30 days before the arrival, to be paid via wire transfer.
  • Due to the current COVID 19 pandemic, we offer our guests to pay the 50% of the total amount by 30 days before the arrival. The remaining 50% will be paid on the day of arrival.

  • Arrivals and departures are on Saturdays only (check-in by 5 pm - check-out by 10 am) unless differently agreed with the owners. Long-term rental is available.
